Happy Friday, y’all!! I’m so excited to be doing a little blog post switcheroo with Marian today for {av}’s Friday’s Fancies! When I got matched up with MW for the big blog swap, I checked out all of her FF’s and realized…this girl loves ACCESSORIES! I mean, who doesn’t, but this girl knows how to work ‘em. Then, in my randomness of a thought process (keep in mind I’m from Arkansas, where the town shuts down if they even say the word s-n-o-w), I think, “she’s from Baltimore…must be cold there…mmm I wonder what they wear when it’s so cold…mmm I wonder what they wear out on the town while still looking cute when it’s so cold.” And that is the method in which I came up with Marian’s collection today:

Christmas Comes Early

My FAVORITE book when I was young was The Hobbit.
My dad read it to me when I was a wee tot
And I continued to reread it a hundred times
So of course I am ecstatic for this!
(As if my love for LOTR wasn't enough, right)

I'm like a kid in the candy store!!

Back in New England for the holidays which is why I have been MIA. Still can't believe how close Christmas is and the fact that I haven't really finished my shopping...and lets not even get started on my whole wrapping scenario. I'm gonna need an elf or two Santa, and STAT! On the plus side, the Christmas cards did make it out and should get to everything BEFORE the holidays. That's a win!

Ah, the Eve of Thanksgiving. For a vegetarian, you would think this holiday would be a bust, but I love me some food, I love me some family, I love me some football..and I even love me some of the Macy's Day Parade! Back in the day, we would travel to the Hamptons where my father grew up to visit with my grandmother. No lie, our Thanksgivings there were what they make movies out of. I couldn't make up these stories if I tried. Once my grandmother said goodbye, Thanksgiving became a tad more simple. No traveling, no secret dishes. When I made the move to Maryland, the family decided to start a new tradition and make the trek down here. They arrive today and I am super excited. Can't wait to squeeze them and love them!

So, what's on the menu you may ask. Well, I've got a few ideas up my sleeve...

Took a Bite out of the Apple

Headed here this past weekend for a girls getaway

After enjoying a couple bottles of wine and some cheese and hummus in Astoria-

we hit the town

Took a little stroll down the street and ate our face off at Sweet Afton

where I enjoyed the most delicious Grilled Portabella Burger w/Irish Cheddar,

the mac and cheese, and fried pickles

I'm drooling just thinking about it!

Dessert consisted of their famous Pickle Back Shot

Shot of whiskey followed by a chaser of spiced pickle juice

Not my dessert of choice, but it was the restaurant's signature

So how could I say No

We then considered camping out for SNL tickets,

but the bitter cold changed our minds

Bought a few more bottles of wine and headed home for gossip and dance parties

Saturday morning-ish, we

grabbed the aspirin and hit the pavement-

With spiked peppermint schnapps hot chocolates in hand!

Had big plans to hit up the cozy, little Penelope located in Midtown

but our tummies weren't having the 1.5 hour wait

So we moved on a few more blocks to Barking Dog

We were sat and served quickly

With lots of variety for brunch, we were happy campers

With full tummies, we decided to wander the next few hours:

Hit up Rockefeller Center to ogle the ice skaters

The Tree was in the process of becoming Christmas-fied

Battled the kids and headed to FAO Schwarz

where we immediately got in line for this:

After tickling the ivories with our feetsies, we needed a boost...

...which only the largest box of nerds could handle.

We continued to pound the pavement until we got to

the American Museum of Natural History

where we spent a few hours visiting the dinosaurs, the planets, and the animals

Of course,we stopped to say hello to The Squid and The Whale

After our history lesson(s) for the day

We headed down to Chelsea for some grub

where we found The Dish

Classic diner food with an upscale setting

From the food, to the ambiance, to the waitstaff, we loved it all

Of course, we HAD to get dessert that consisted of sweet this time around

so we headed down the road and hit up Billy's Bakery

Deliciousness

So we took our treats and headed to the High Line to enjoy

Definitely recommend stopping by-

Public park built on an historic freight rail line and elevated above

the streets on Manhattan's West Side

Perfect setting to devour this...

We were ready for the night life so we proceeded down to the West Village

to enjoy the bar at Jane Hotel and The Art Bar

to enjoy $8 martinis and seasonal beer

Where we spent the remainder of the evening giggling in the corner booth

I mean, who gives up the corner booth on a Saturday night

not these gals...

Warm from our beverages,

we enjoyed a late-night romantical walk through the city

which included finding my most favorite liquor store and hitting up the taco truck

Sunday morning, of course, came to early

But nothing better than Brooklyn Bagel to help a girl recover

The homemade cream cheese is from HEAVEN

I wanted to try them all

So there you have it, I survived another weekend in NYC

(And I can't wait to go back!)

Now, if only I could survive this work week

There Aren't Enough Days in the Weekend

Weekend consisted of:

Started with winning the "Shawn Bonner Award of Excellence" in kickball

for my unassisted double play I made in the bottom of the 7th.

Yup, a mini of JD. I was thrilled

Celebrating a happily ever after with open bars and fly dance moves

Did I mention the wedding took place at the MLB park- Camden Yards

Sunday= Recovery day which basically consisted of lots of this

And so what if the sole reason may or may not be because my girl crush for Brittany S. Pierce (aka Heather Morris) is on fiy-ah. But I'm sure the boy won't roll with that so I'll go for The Help. The book was amazing and I was nervous. It is rare that Hollywood does a book justice when putting it on the big screen and though this movie may not follow the book to a T, I've been reading reviews and they are music to my ears. So Glee 3-D or not, The Help will be on the agenda and I can't complain. Now lets all grab a cocktail- it is happy hour somewhere- kick up our feet, and take a breather!

In the great debate of Man versus Wild, I'm always going to take Bear Grylls! I have got to admit, there is something about the Man vs. Wild star that gets my heart going. Not sure if it has to do with his undeniable ruggedness or the fact that he is a real-life Macgyver. The show sucks me in every time, especially the marathons. Its like I don't want to watch Bear eat a raw fish or drink his own pee to survive, but I just can't look away!

Anyways, the season premiere is right around the corner- July 11th, 9pm to be exact- and they are kicking it off with a bang- a hunky, dreamy, bang. Jake Gyllenhaal will be conquering Iceland with Bear. Can.Not.Wait.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go sit by the phone and wait for my invitation to join Bear in some remote destination for next season's premiere. Yeah, I'd totally rock that 'ish (minus the whole drinking pee deal)

Also, JK Rowling revealed her ideas behind the infamous Pottermore- come October Potter fans will be able to enjoy an online reading experience unlike any other- same stories with a few crucial additions. I'm not that intense, but the site will supposedly include newly written content from Rowling for each book, ideas she has been hoarding for years! I've also read that visitors will be sorted into Hogwarts houses...and I mean, who doesn't want to know what house they would be put in, right;)

HBO, the network that knows how to make original series that rock. The Wire, Curb Your Enthusiasm, True Blood, Entourage (though I'm more of a fan of the earlier seasons)...and we can now include my new favorite addiction, Game of Thrones.

FYI- This is a rant...apologies if you are not obsessed with the show like I, this post may not make sense:)

Except after last week I wanted to punch someone when they killed off my favorite character. That little brat "Your Grace"...cocky SOB. I'm hoping the Starks get some major payback come next season. And now in the season finale I come to find out that the stud, Khal Drogo, is basically a goner (with some weird cross-eyed thing going on) and poor Khaleesi has to make such a tough decision. But um, at least she got some dragons...and uh, nice rack!? Throw me a bone here Thrones! Ned Stark best be coming back from the dead, kicking ass and taking names!!

Yup, that's right. I think I'm doing it. I'm giving in. Twitter is woo-ing the girl who couldn't be woo-ed by the Blue Bird. Besides the fact that I'm obsessed with Lord Voldemort (effing genius!) on the Twit, I've been having to up my game in the Social Media world here at work...and to be completely honest, I know nothing about Twitter. I spent half my work day watching how-to YouTube videos on the whole trend, and I still don't really get it. It took about an hour for me to even post a tweet for the client. It was a mess. And to get better, I think I just need to invest in it personally. Make it a quick learn.

Plus, I need to help my girl Miss Chelsea trend this super fab word she created(and I don't even know what "trend" means...but I'mma do it for you Chelsea!)

You know that song by One Republic "Good Life"...yeah, it was on repeat in my head over the entire weekend. My Friday may have sucked a big one, but Saturday and Sunday reminded me just how blessed I am...what a good, good life.

Li and I took a hike down the street to check out the Federal Hill Jazz and Blues Festival. The weather was hot, the beer was cold (and large), the tunes were rocking (thank you Old Man Brown), the food was mouthwatering, and the art was AMAZING. We ate, drank, and were merry...no doubt about it.

My day started off with traffic. Lots of it. And did I mention I have the worst road rage known to man. Needless to say, I was super late for work. Oh yeah, I had to piss like a race horse-THE ENTIRE DRIVE (I guess that's what happens when you chug a cup of coffee while running out the door). And it was down pouring, perfect for the bladder...along with the sounds of waterfalls and waves crashing. So it was an unpleasant drive. Doing the pee-pee dance while driving is not comfortable. AT ALL.

Finally arrived and trying to catch up and what happens, my computer crashes...3 times. Oh, and did I mention I may have to go to NYC for the day on Friday. Its a holiday weekend, come on now.

But what keeps me going...gets me through today...

Call me Mrs. Awkward

So you know how there are those sketchy/creepy guys at the gym. You know who I'm talking about...the ones who's stares feel as if they are undressing you with their eyes or have very vulgar, loud conversations as if this turns women on or use corny pick up lines or are wearing super tight shorts or make loud grunting noises (yeah, that last one just bothers me). Well, I hate to say it, but I think I joined the club the other day- I was THAT creepy gym girl. But I didn't mean to be, I swear. My breathe was just taken away. I was in awe and my mouth just happened to mumble what my brain was thinking. Except, there was no thinking involved...because if there was, I clearly would have kept my mouth shut and eyes on the prize.

You see, I was walking out of the gym, a hot mess after a tough cardio battle and this older gentlemen is getting out of his car, gearing up for some intense reps, I'm sure. We both do the polite nod...but then I stop...and I kid you not Donna Lewis' "I Love You Always Forever" came on...except lets not focus on the whole I love you always and forever but the..."You've got the most unbelievable blue eyes I've ever seen". Because I swear to you, this man did. And here I am, a deer in headlights to this man's unbelievable blue eyes. Awkwardly staring to the point where I'm sure he was uncomfortable. Hell, I was uncomfortable. I finally came to from my trance and what do I do...oh, you know, just tell him:

"You have beautiful eyes. Like amazingly beautiful."
Silence...

Yeah, I said it...then wanted to die and instead just scurried away. My whole drive home I tried to reason with myself. If a man told me I had beautiful eyes, I'd take it as a compliment, not a pick-up line of any sort, just being friendly. My only issue is that I did the uncomfortable stare which I imagine lasted at least 5 mississippis. The only thing I can hope for now is no run-in's at the gym.

Friday's Fancies: Dirty Thirty

So I have been back from paradise for 2+ weeks. My tan has faded, no more sand in my hair, my stress level is back at high and all I want to do is go back. Doesn't help that my boss just returned from 2.5 weeks down there as well and I'm more than jealous of his sun kissed skin. Sigh.

Now I promise to fill you in (with lots of pictures, maybe even video if I dare) on the unforgettable trip, but I'm saving that for another day soon. Instead, I wanted to share a little blog I stumbled upon today- Lindsay in New Hampshire. She's doing a little post titled "Show Us Your Bling" and being a semi newlywed...I kind of wanted to join in!

First, lets not judge my sausage fingers and unkempt nails...I'm still in a depression state since my return to reality.

The boy did good. Real good. I had no say in the ring. He did the work all on his own. Though he did mention that he had some guidance from a previous jewelry experience in the Bahamas (aka worst day of my life). Long story short, we went in for a free necklace and almost was pressured into buying an engagement ring...which neither of us were ready for at the time- AT ALL. Though I did love the ring we were looking at that day, there was no way in hell that I wanted it on my finger at that time.

Its known as the destination where the celebrities go to get away from it all, enjoy private and secluded beaches, as well as the luxuries of life. And this girl, well, she has no complaints having to work here for the next 10 days. And by work I mean familiarizing myself with the territory...don't mind if I do.

I think the ladies at AV's Friday's Fancies: Oscar's Edition would have rocked that carpet tonight. The stars on the other hand, notsomuch. Of course, this is just my opinion and I am no fashion guru by any means. I liked certain aspects of certain dresses, but like I said, in general, I was a tad disappointed. Now let me tell you ladies, living the life of the rich and famous, I KNOW I would love playing dress up, but being as indecisive as I am, the whole choosing just one dress for a big night is quite daunting. You would have thought the decision was a life or death situation for me. I couldn't make up my mind. Do I take a chance with a Naeem Khan gown or do I go short and flirty with an Erdem 'Margot' lace dress. Both were perfect in so many ways, but in the end, I followed my heart (though that Khan gown is going to need to be worn and STAT).

To Wood or Not To Wood

Ladies.

It has been over a week. My apologies. And big hugs to the new faces!! Marian loves her blogals and I now have over 200 effing followers. But you all aren't just followers, you are the most fabulous and make me smile big smiles and my heart go kabomb, kabomb. Would it be too corny if I said I love you all before the big V Day?!?

So, I've got a question and I'm looking for some guidance. Remember back in late summer, after we bought a new car but before we got married, we made another pretty big investment (yeah, its like money was growing on trees back then). That's right, we made an offer on a little house, it was accepted and suddenly we were first time home-owners. Our little place is a fixer-upper with lots of Baltimore charm. We have lofty goals. Goals that need money. And until we have said money, we will work on the small things. Since then we've done a few things here and there. Painted a few rooms, bought some new furniture. Slowly but surely, we are getting there. Of course, we still want to knock down walls, extend and completely gut the kitchen, dig out the basement and make a man cave, redo all bathrooms as well as add an additional one...and that's just a small portion of our never ending list. But I feel like the list is always never ending for home-owners, so we aren't gonna sweat it!

Anyways, the helping portion. Wood floors. We want them. We've already discussed and agreed on the first floor. Right now its a mixture of hard wood, carpet and tile in the kitchen. And let me just put it out there, the carpet is pretty busted. However, we are debating about the second floor where the bedrooms are. To hardwood the floors, or not...that is the question. Do we choose the gorgeous gleam or opt for the comfort of some plush carpet. Thoughts, opinions, Bueller?

Tell it to Me Tuesday

My girl CMae has started a weekly post called "Tell It To Me Tuesdays" where you vent about what is bothering you in pictures or words, your choice. Since I had a few choice words for a white Toyota Avalon this morning, I thought what better way to vent.

1.) My number one pet peeve, HANDS DOWN, is slow drivers in the fast lane. Like Luda says, "if you do the speed limit, get the eff out of my way." I am not a reckless driver by any means (husband may disagree with this statement) but I do think 75 on the highway is a reasonable speed. And once I'm done passing you, I'll move on over to the right. Please do the same grandma, aka white Avalon. I was 20 minutes late this morning because you have yet to learn the rules of the road.
I would have passed on the right, but I kid you not, this car kept pace with an 18-wheeler so there was no where to go. Shoot me.

2.) I lied, my number one pet peeve is milk dripping down someone's chin. I gagged/shivered just typing that sentence. However, this pet peeve did not bother me today- thank you Lord.

3.) I want a snow day. Stop teasing me weather people. If we are going to get snow/ice, I expect it. If not, stop interrupting my shows with weather updates. To all my Midwest and New England friends, or really anywhere besides Maryland, I apologize for my reference to snow. I'm sure you are sick of it.

Now that I got that off my chest, I feel loads better. Or it could be the white chocolate mocha I'm sipping on. Either way, Happy Tuesday lovers.

Raise Your Glass if You are Wrong

ya know...in all the right ways...

And this little lady, well she wants to raise her glass in Napa...to celebrate 30 years of her pretty, little husband (and by pretty and little, I mean tall and lanky).

Obviously, in my dreams, Napa is covered with Christmas lights at night
Why wouldn't it be, right?!?

But to do so, I need some tips, also known as major help. The only things I really know about Napa are that 1) its in California 2) it is beautiful and 3)Wine- lots and lots of the vino. Napa had me at wine. But its not about me, its about Liam. And lucky for me, he's a fan of all three with an emphasis on the 3rd.

Anyways, the boy turns the big 3-0 (yes I am the elder in the relationship and I take full advantage of it) and there is no better present I could give him on his big day then taking him to wine country. Its one of the places he MUST visit, his words, not mine. He has this wine book he refers to every night. For Christmas, he asked Santa for a subscription to this wine magazine...which ended up not being the kind of magazine I liked and more of a 300 page essay on wines...snooze. So, I want to take him to Napa....where we can stomp on grapes, have picnics, ride bikes, eat cheese, and do lots and lots of tastings. Throw in a snuggle here and there and Liam will be in heaven.

But I need your help. Anyone have any recommendations on where to go and where to stay? I need help and preferably before April:) Anything would be better than what I'm working with now and I will love you long time. Or not. Depending on what you like.

Now, back to my dreams of Napa where my goal is for THIS not to happen.
Note to readers- I know I am a terrible person for linking back to that video, but I immediately think of it whenever I think of wine and then I immediately think of the Family Guy version...hehehe. But its ok cause I often mutter "I can't breathe" as well.

So happy weekend. We made it. Now lets make the most of it... which for me, includes a farewell dinner for one of my colleagues, shopping for some blog swaps, Girls Night Out, my bff making a Star Wars breakfast, The King's Speech, and being served a delicious dinner by the littler sister. Helps pass the time. Especially when that time is for a 2+ hour commute...that usally takes 20 minutes. You see, the Maryland area was hit with some snow yesterday...to say the state was unprepared is an understatement. Hubby came to pick me up from the train station and the usual 20 minute ride home took us over two hours. Cars were spinning out, trucks were blocking exits, people were abandoning their cars, highways looked like parking lots. It was miserable. And I think the 2 hour commute was a lot less than others had. Ugh. But on the bright side, it did look pretty.

Sorry for peacing out for a few days. Had a huge work project which we presented yesterday. Now I can get back to blogging about how much I loved The Fighter and discuss this friendship that is sparking between Blair and Dan on Gossip Girl. We all know I'm all for Blair and Chuck...but can't say I'm hating this Blair/Dan deal.

So Casey over at Poodleism does a "Friday Newsflash" every week. I love it. I always wanted to do it. Well, Casey must be able to read my mind because last week she invited us all to participate. The thing is, I got stage fright. How could I live up to Casey's Newsflashes. They are entertaining, witty, interesting. All I read is PerezHilton.com...but then I said, what the hell. So thank you Casey, for inviting me, for inviting us all...so after reading...why don't you all go and join!!

1. America's Sweetheart's ex gets down on one knee.

Yeah, that is right- Jesse James announced that he and Kat Von D are engaged. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! Come on now, is the ink even dried from the divorce? I feel so bad for Sandy, but there are bigger and better things waiting for her.

2. Rafael Nadal Armani ads hit the web

And I'm drooling. You see, I've always been a fan of tennis. I've rooted for Agassi for years, Andy Roddick has been a fav for years, and don't get me started with James Blake (swwwoooon) but the day Rafael showed up in the tennis circuit, I was hooked. Those arms drove me crazy, though I could do without the capris. #1 fan right here...and now, he is the new face for Armani underwear and jeans. Ads start rolling out in February, but we got a sneak peak this week (rhyme much), and I can't complain.

3. Fountain Lady may sue mall

I'm sure some of you have seen the youtube clip uploaded by some security guards at a local mall. Woman walking through the mall, texting, and walks right into a fountain. All the while, you can hear the security guards laughing in the background. Of course, I feel bad for the lady, she must be mortified after the video went viral. My colleague and I were actually discussing what we would do if we were there- would we have helped or just pretend we didn't see it happen. You see, the woman is debating to sue the mall or not because no one came to her aid (however, I do believe that a cleaning man does approach her at one point during the video). But to be honest, I can't believe this hasn't happened sooner.

4. Closing up shop

Word on the street is that some big names may be closing down this year. Its always hard to say goodbye, but when ya can't pay the bills, whats the big man to do. Brands such as Blockbuster, Quiznos, and Borders are on the chopping block. Word to the wise, I wouldn't be investing in any of these;)

5. The Dark Knight Rises casting updates

I'm not sure if the Batman series will ever find a villain so perfect as Heath Ledger as the joker. He made that movie. My fear for clowns returned (and we all know it started with Mr. King's "It") after watching that film. We lost a brilliant man, however, the show must go on. I'm a big fan of the Batman series so when rumors were swirling that Tom Hardy was being cast in the next film, I was estatic...though he is playing a more obscure character- Bane - I'm excited to see how it plays out. And now, word on the street is that Ms. Annie Hathaway will be Catwoman. Lets forget that Halle Berry role and remember Michelle Pfeiffer in the leather. Purrrrrr

*I'd like to mention that I did have a 6th flash- all about the 23-year old Carlina who just this week was reunited with her biological parents after being kidnapped just days after being born, however, Cas included that on her Newsflash so I removed it from mind...but I just wanted you all to know I'm just not about boys in their undies and superheros:)

Adventures in Cooking

This quote is basically the story of my life. True Story. I almost started a fire boiling water. Yes. Boiling. Water. I blame it on the EVOO that I had thrown into the pot with the water. A little must have dripped on the outside of the pot and sparked the flame...the next thing I know, I have this huge fire engulfing my pot and hitting our fan. I was kind of in shock and didn't know what to do. Thank God my roommate was there and he just shut off the gas. Smart kid:)

You see, I've never been the brightest bulb in the kitchen. I really have no skill. Baking, now that is a whole other story. But cooking up a meal. I'm screwed. But with the new year comes new adventures. And Sunday's night adventure just happened to take place in the kitchen. After wanting to kill myself at the grocery store yesterday gathering my ingredients(when the hell did it become busy in a grocery store at 4pm on a Saturday) , this girl SUCCESSFULLY cooked beef tenderloin with a side of red potatoes, green beans, a kick-ass salad and chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. But I not only cooked- I actually winged it. No recipes. Just me, the ingredients and my ideas. Not too shabby. Watch out Rachel Ray.

Revas are a Girl's BEST FRIEND

I am a lover of all things Tory Burch. Maybe cliche, but I can't help it. It is like her shoes were made for my feet. Those Reva's...they get me every time. And her purses, they make me giddy. Lets not even start with the clothes or I'll go into debt just thinking about them. And have you seen Tory, beautiful woman inside and out. We were a match-made-in-heaven, until today.

You see my lovely, little friends, my most recent purchase of Revas...the emblem is on its way out. Proof below.

I'm not a fan of my shoe having the ability to talk to me.

Now, I would somewhat understand if this was the case had I owned these for a year...maybe even 6 months...or even wore them religiously (which I probably would if it wasn't so damn cold), but sadly, pain strickenly, that isn't the case. I've worn them 1-2 times a week since I've received them. You see, I haven't even owned these puppies for 2 months. They were my birthday treat in November....so you can understand how heartbroken I am...not only am I 30, but now my Tory's are broken. Sigh. By the way, there is nothing wrong with being 30, I'm quite loving it:)

But anyways, these puppies, they cost a pretty penny. I could find knock offs for loads cheaper. But it isn't the same. The comfort that the Revas offer really can't be duplicated, at least not in my mind. And I also like to believe that I was paying for reliability. I own a few pairs of TB's and have never, not once, had an issue with them.

I'm not hating on the Tory Burch brand at all. I'm still a lover, as I said before, I've never had problems with any of my other pairs. They are perfect. Just a little heartbroken. Has this happened to anyone else before? I have contacted Tory Burch's customer service about the issue and am waiting to see what happens. Maybe there is a secret remedy. Maybe I'll just have to superglue it. Or maybe, just maybe, they'll send me a new pair (which really is the only acceptable solution, right?!?)! In the past, when something has gone wrong with other name brand shoes I have owned, those companies either fixed the problem at no cost or sent me a new pair. We'll see how TB responds.

Of course, there are more important things in life like world peace or stopping world hunger, but today, this little girl just wanted to vent about her new shoes.

Now, time to watch reruns of Dexter to make myself feel better.

Wow, the holidays came and went...and I didn't mean to be a stranger, but I was just enjoying the season. I hope you all had the loveliest of holidays and are starting the new year off right. But hold up, 2010 is over? Are you serious. I'm living my life in fast forward and I just need to hit the pause button to enjoy it...and not spend days recovering from holiday parties. This is my confession

Ah, Christmas is so close I can taste it. Of course, I have yet to start baking, have only enjoyed 1 Christmas movie, need to begin the endless wrapping...and did I mention I still have to run out to the store tomorrow morning for some last minute goodies....No, well then, lets pretend I'm not a slacker and instead talk about the art of wrapping (an art I clearly suck at).

For the mere fact that I, Marian alone, suck at wrapping gifts. I'm impatient, I can't cut straight and I'm a scrooge with the tape. I either have too much paper or not enough. If its too much, I tend to just crumple it all together and throw on a piece of tape or two. If its not enough, I have no problem cutting a few extra pieces of paper and just taping them in the slots. Its a sad sight, but its the thought that counts right?

I envy those who are wrapping masters. Please teach me your ways!!

Home for the holidays

Well ladies, I am home in New Hampshire spending time with family, fighting the crazys at the stores to finish my Christmas shopping (unsuccessful), getting ready to cook up a storm, and trying to stay warm in this frigid weather. Brrrrr. However, I have a bone to pick, when I left Maryland last Friday, it looked like this-

Home in New Hampshire

Does anyone else see my issue? No snow in New Hampshire. I'm hoping Mother Nature changes that and quick. I'd love to have a white Christmas this year (hint hint Santa)

But I can't complain, I've been spending time with the family and loving every minute. Really, there is no place like home!

What do I have planned for the remaining days before Santa arrives? Besides Christmas movies and wrapping, I'm hoping to finish the Christmas shopping, hitting up the grocery store, meat house and fish stand for our Christmas feast, hanging the stockings by the chimney with care, wrapping the garland up our staircase (its my favorite job and my mother always saves it for me), decorating the tree, and becoming elves again to bake some holiday treats (thanks Kelly- she is my lifesaver). But first, I've got to spend some quality time with Ms. Jillian Michaels so I can eat all those treats:)

Can you feel the love tonight

Sir Elton John sure said it best. You girls rock! And by rock I mean the best things in my life, making me smile from ear to ear and my head so big I could fly to the moon. All the positive, lovely comments I've received on the wedding have blown me away. You see, the whole wedding planning process was a labor of love. Liam and I took it one day at a time, spending money where we wanted it most (band and booze) and keeping it simple in other aspects (flowers and photography). To hear such amazing things means more than you'll ever know. Of course, we weren't out to have the best wedding of the season, we just wanted our guests to enjoy themselves, as well as keeping a piece of us with them forever. And to know that our visions are something people may refer to in the future when planning their own 'Happily Ever After' is completely moving and surreal. Makes me blush! So thank you lovely ladies...for the endless love and support. Virtual kisses for you all!

Heya, lets do this every year

Anyways. sorry for the mini hiatus. I go on vacation tomorrow and ain't looking back till the new year:) But in that process I've had to make sure I'm all caught up at work and not to mention Christmas is 9 days away (9 effing days...when did that happen). We've almost completed this wedding ride and I'm excited to move on to blogging about the house, Gossip Girl, and my generally low-key life. But until then, I love you all!!

PS- Its snowing in Maryland. Beginning to look a lot like Christmas, yes please. Now I just need the elves to show up and help me with my Christmas shopping

Down on the Farm

Now, lets head on down to the farm, Curtis Farm to be exact. This was the perfect venue for us. It displayed the best of New England, as long as Mother Nature behaved. The farm is run by a young family and they are A-MAZ-ING. Matt was there at every step for us and was willing to help in any way. I didn't need a DOC because he was that GOOD. From my first step on the ground to my last glimpse as we drove off in the buses late night September 25th, it just took my breath away. And to be honest, we got the same exact feedback from our guests. They were in love with it as much as we were. And thats exactly what we wanted. So, come have a look at the venue that took our breath away...

So, we are now, officially, husband and wife. We were both relieved and hot(the weather was beautiful, but for Fall in New England it was unseasonly warm). And ready for some champagne and dancing. Though before we could indulge, we had to take care of some pictures.

Onto the big moment, where we say "I do". The ceremony flew by. Getting out of the car, butterflies took over my stomach, but the moment I took my father's arm, I was at ease and ready to see my man. Surprisingly, there were no tears on our catwalk. I honestly thought I'd be a hot mess. The only tears I shed were during our vows, and man oh man did I try to keep them in. But it was a lovely ceremony. We finally became Mr. and Mrs, in the church that I grew up in, surrounded by all our family and friends. It was perfect.
